During the attack, Bellin called for help, but ultimately saved herself by climbing onto slippery rocks nearby. She recalled watching the otter circle around the rocks before finally escaping. “It just kept coming back,” she told KRNV. “I kept pushing it away, but it would always return.” The incident has raised concerns among local residents and officials regarding wildlife behavior in the area. Bellin, who had considered the lake her sanctuary and place of peace, expressed fear of returning to the water. “I feel like I’ve lost that part of myself after the attack,” she said, adding that she hopes to one day return to the lake.
