Ukrainian officials claim the attack resulted in casualties among the crew, though these claims have not been independently verified. Reports suggest the vessel was involved in a 2018 incident in the Kerch Strait, where Russian forces opened fire on Ukrainian ships attempting to transit through the strait into the Azov Sea. The luxurious estate, which gained international attention after opposition figure Alexei Navalny detailed its existence in a video several years ago, sits just a few kilometers south-east of Gelendschik along the coast. According to Robert Browdi, head of Ukraine’s drone units, recent attacks targeted 20 vessels, including 17 oil tankers, two gas carriers, and a tugboat.
