The changes included the departure of key executives from Google DeepMind, including AI chief Demis Hassabis, who stepped down from his primary managerial role. Hassabis, a Nobel laureate, will transition to the newly created position of Alphabet’s chief scientist and serve as chairman of DeepMind, according to internal memos shared with employees.
