Part of this decline can be attributed to Toyota’s expansion into different market segments through the launch of the Yaris Cross, a new compact SUV that received positive feedback since its release and has already accumulated 4,479 patentings. In an effort to recover the sales pace from last year, the Japanese automaker decided to keep all prices unchanged for July, a policy it had maintained since February. The sole exception was the Yaris, which recorded a price increase of 1%. The pricing list for the model was thus established accordingly. The Toyota Yaris Hatchback continues to be a key player in the automotive industry, though the overall market faced challenges. Between January and June, 294,181 vehicles were patented, marking a 9.9% decrease compared to the same period in 2025, when 326,549 units were registered. Sebastian Beato, president of Acara, noted that the first part of the year was marked by an excess of units, uncertainty in demand, and fierce competition over prices and promotions. After several months of slowdown, dealers and concessionaires are adjusting their strategies, and signs of recovery are beginning to emerge on the horizon. The zero-kilometer vehicle market also experienced a contraction during the first half of the year. Customers continue to analyze their decisions carefully, waiting for lower interest rates or new options to access vehicles. The association continues to monitor how to manage or sell a large stockpile of unsold units. According to the association’s president, new tools such as long-term financing at reduced rates or zero-interest loans, along with transparent pricing and tax policies, are now necessary. While current figures worry the sector, the outlook remains promising. Figures from June show a recovery compared to May, and it is expected that the second half of the year will see better performance than the first, with growth anticipated.
