He returned on Saturday, during which he reportedly approached federal personnel and claimed to be a State Department employee on a security detail. During the search of Taele’s residence on Sunday, investigators discovered an AR-style rifle that had been unlawfully modified and was not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record. Additional firearms, ammunition, high-capacity magazines, body armor, an earpiece, radio signal devices, and notebooks containing disturbing content were seized. These findings suggest a coordinated effort that could have posed a serious threat to public safety. Taele’s vehicle was found to contain a loaded firearm, along with a 16-round magazine of hollow-point bullets designed to cause increased damage upon impact. Deputies also located a fake badge labeled “security protection agent” and binoculars, further indicating an intent to pose as a legitimate security official. Taele is currently wanted in El Segundo on an outstanding robbery warrant, adding another layer of concern regarding his criminal history.
