However, the FA noted that if the same sample had been tested under current WADA guidelines, the concentration of meldonium would not have triggered an adverse finding. Changes to WADA’s technical documents since Mudryk’s test mean that similar results would not lead to sanctions today. Mudryk expressed relief at finally being able to return to football. In a public statement, he reiterated that he never knowingly took a banned substance and emphasized his dedication to fair competition. “I am grateful that this process has reached a conclusion, that I have been cleared to return to football and that I can now look ahead to my future,” he said.
