BJP pianifica proteste per le terre 22-A, le tasse degli studenti

The Telangana chapter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a series of protests targeting what it describes as anti-people policies implemented by the state's ruling Congress government. These demonstrations include a two-day fast led by BJP Legislature Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy starting on September 5 at Dharna Chowk, followed by another protest on September 7 by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM). The protests aim to demand the repeal of the contentious 22-A land regulations and the immediate settlement of outstanding student fee reimbursements. N. Ramchander Rao, the state BJP president, addressed party members following Girivardhan Reddy's assumption of leadership in the Medchal-Malkajgiri urban district unit. During this meeting, Mr. Rao criticized the Revanth Reddy-led government, accusing it of attempting to "brazenly loot" Hyderabad through its policies. He specifically highlighted concerns regarding the proposed Core Urban Region (CURE) initiative, which involves changes to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Act. According to Mr. Rao, these changes would reduce the power of local corporators and remove critical responsibilities from the Mayor, centralizing control under the Chief Minister. Mr. Rao expressed worries that the CURE initiative would place an extra financial burden on ordinary citizens and the middle class. Additionally, he pointed out that residents are living in fear due to ongoing demolition campaigns conducted by the Hyderabad Administrative Authority (HYDRAA). The BJP leader also accused the current administration of transforming industrial and other types of land into real estate projects and selling off public property. He noted that commission rates paid by builders and realtors have increased to 30%, up from 15% during the previous BRS government. In his speech, Mr. Rao emphasized that the nation's youth strongly support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development agenda. He stated that the BJP fully backs the Prime Minister's push for a "drug-free India." However, he criticized the state government for failing to address the rising issue of drug and narcotic sales, citing a 43% increase in related offenses as evidence. Eatala Rajender, the Malkajgiri MP, along with several other BJP leaders, attended the program where these allegations were made. The planned protests reflect the growing tensions between the ruling Congress party and the opposition BJP in Telangana, particularly concerning land reforms and educational funding issues. As the scheduled dates approach, attention will focus on how the government responds to these demonstrations and whether they will lead to any policy changes or concessions.
