Bengaluru: A private college professor was rescued from alleged wrongful confinement by police officers responding to an emergency call on Saturday, according to local authorities. The incident occurred in the R.T. Nagar area, where a friend of the 28-year-old professor reportedly informed the Namma 112 emergency helpline that she had been confined in a room within a residential building. The police swiftly responded, arriving at the scene within ten minutes. The police, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Shivalingegowda and Assistant Police Constable Chinnappa Mulimani, located the professor on the fourth floor of the building and freed her. She was then taken to the police station and presented before the Station House Officer. Two of her relatives, who were suspected of confining her, were summoned for further investigation. Legal action has been initiated against them, according to officials. In a separate incident, a homemaker attempted to take her own life following a domestic dispute. She contacted the Namma 112 helpline at approximately 3.45 p.m., expressing her intent to end her life. The police, specifically Police Constable Vijay Dandoti, arrived at her residence within four minutes. With the help of female officers, she was safely escorted to the police station, where she received counseling. She was later reunited with her brother after completing necessary procedures. Earlier this month, the Namma 112 system also played a crucial role in rescuing a 14-month-old child who had been accidentally locked in a room. The incident took place in C.V. Raman Nagar on August 1, when the child's parents called the helpline after discovering the toddler trapped inside a locked room at their home on 9th Cross, Kaveri Colony. The emergency control room dispatched Hoysala-30, which included Assistant Sub-Inspector Tippeswamy R. and Assistant Police Constable Vijaykumar Vali. They arrived promptly and managed to open the door without damaging the property, allowing the child to be reunited with his parents unharmed. These incidents highlight the effectiveness of the Namma 112 Emergency Response System in addressing urgent situations. The system, designed to provide rapid response to emergencies, has demonstrated its capability in handling diverse cases ranging from domestic disputes to accidental entrapment.
