Gibney’s defense attorney, Patrick Gageby SC, stated that Gibney accepts the jury's verdict and will not pursue an appeal. He acknowledged that Gibney once enjoyed “some deserved fame” for his contributions to sports training, though this reputation has since crumbled. Gageby emphasized that Gibney is currently in poor health and has undergone a personal transformation, no longer the individual responsible for the offenses against children under his care. Gibney was found guilty of 12 counts of indecent assault concerning the first complainant, with one count dismissed. His guilty pleas pertained to the same complainant. The other survivors similarly detailed the psychological and emotional scars left by Gibney’s actions.
