Záporožská jaderná elektrárna přišla opět o vnější napájení, uvedla MAAE

The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has again lost external power supply, according to a statement from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This marks the 21st such incident since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war. Following the outage, emergency diesel generators were activated to restore power, but one of the two lines connecting the plant to the electrical grid remains out of service. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi warned that this latest incident highlights the extreme fragility of nuclear safety at the facility and emphasizes the need for maximum military restraint. The IAEA team on site noted military activity near the plant but did not specify the type of actions. Located in Ukraine’s Enerhodar, close to the front line, the plant was captured by Russia shortly after its invasion began in February 2022. Both sides have accused each other of shelling the facility. Although all six reactors at the plant are currently offline and not producing electricity, they contain significant amounts of nuclear fuel that must remain in a safe state and cooled, requiring a continuous electricity supply.
