Upon arrival, they found Mia Bieniemy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Elijah Zion Bieniemy, 27, was subsequently arrested and charged with malicious wounding, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm inside a dwelling. He was booked into the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center and held without bail. Authorities stated there was no immediate public safety risk posed by the suspect. Eric Bieniemy, who had been participating in the Chiefs' preseason training camp at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri, left immediately following the incident to be with his wife. He did not attend Monday’s practice session. Head coach Andy Reid addressed the media on Monday, expressing concern for the Bieniemy family. He praised Mia Bieniemy as "one of God’s good blessings" and noted that her stable condition was a positive sign. Reid also mentioned that the team would adjust its coaching responsibilities temporarily, with passing game coordinator Joe Bleymaier and offensive line coach Andy Heck taking on expanded roles while Bieniemy focuses on his wife’s recovery.
