Cortés is the sole administrator of Grupo Universal Inmobiliario y de Industrias S.A. de C.V., an enterprise accused by over 80 individuals of fraudulent practices. These denouncers claim they were promised apartments in Mazatlán within a luxury tower, but after paying deposits, the construction was never completed. The company has faced allegations since 2019, as noted by local state press in Sinaloa. The victim, who was working at the time of the assault, filed a formal complaint with the FGJCDMX. The case is being investigated alongside the ongoing legal actions against the business group.
