In the mountainous regions near Bovška Dolina, two separate incidents involving injuries occurred on Tuesday, with one resulting in severe harm. A 26-year-old Slovenian woman suffered serious injuries after falling into a deep gorge while hiking along an old military path. The incident took place around 9:42 local time, when she lost her balance on the edge of the trail and fell approximately 50 meters before plunging over two rocky ledges measuring roughly 30 to 40 meters in height. She was found by rescuers who transported her via helicopter to the University Clinical Center Ljubljana for further treatment. Meanwhile, another accident unfolded in the area of Kobarid, involving a German cyclist who sustained minor injuries. On Wednesday at 15:13, the 29-year-old cyclist, part of a group riding downhill from Kobariški Stol, lost control of his mountain bike on a rocky path. He collided with a stone, losing grip and tumbling over the handlebars. As a result, he dislocated his arm. Rescuers from the GRS Tolmin mountain rescue team provided immediate assistance, followed by personnel from the emergency response unit based in Brnik, who evacuated him by helicopter to the Tolmin heliport. There, he was taken care of by the NMP ZD Tolmin rescue team and subsequently transferred to the general hospital in Šempeter pri Gorici. After receiving medical attention, the German national was released back into home care. A third individual involved in the day’s events was a French paraglider descending from Kobariški Stol. Around 15:08, a gust of wind closed the paraglider's canopy, causing the pilot to lose lift and land forcefully on the slope of Krna. The 47-year-old man also dislocated his arm during the landing. Rescue teams from GRS Tolmin assisted him in climbing down the slope and transported him to Tolmin, where he was handed over to the NMP ZD Tolmin team for further medical evaluation. He was then sent to the same hospital in Šempeter pri Gorici for continued treatment. The region has been experiencing heavy rainfall in recent days, contributing to slippery conditions on mountain trails and increasing the risk of accidents. Local authorities have advised hikers and outdoor enthusiasts to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to sudden weather changes. Emergency services reported high activity levels throughout the day, with multiple teams deployed to assist the injured individuals. Rescue operations were conducted under challenging terrain conditions, requiring both ground and aerial support. Helicopter units played a crucial role in transporting the victims to medical facilities, highlighting the importance of rapid response in remote mountainous locations. All three individuals remain under observation at the hospitals, with their conditions described as stable. Further updates on their recovery are expected in the coming hours.
