Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation for development projects totaling ₹17.8 crore in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency on Tuesday. The projects include a new community hall dedicated to former district panchayat vice-chairperson Deepak Pundir, among others aimed at improving infrastructure and promoting sustainable development in the region. The event took place at Purukul, drawing attention to Mussoorie’s role as a key tourist destination and its potential for economic growth through improved connectivity and public services. The Chief Minister addressed a public gathering at Purukul, emphasizing the government's focus on strengthening infrastructure and accelerating development in the constituency. He outlined investments in sectors such as education, healthcare, roads, drinking water supply, and public infrastructure, alongside efforts to position Uttarakhand as a center for tourism, sports, and adventure activities. Dhami noted that Mussoorie continues to attract significant tourist traffic, which supports the local economy. Several specific projects were highlighted during the event. These included the construction of the Sainya Dham memorial at Purukul and the upgrading of approximately 13 kilometers of the main road leading to the lower terminal of the Mussoorie ropeway project. Additionally, the Gangol-Panditwadi drinking water scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission has extended access to clean drinking water to multiple villages in the area. Work is also underway to enhance the Maldevta Lal Pul-Silla-Moldhar-Suakholi road under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) scheme to improve connectivity in the Mussoorie Assembly constituency. Electrification work has been completed in Solah village under Gram Panchayat Rikholi. Flood protection measures are being implemented along both banks of the Baldi River in Sahastradhara, covering a distance of 1.5 kilometers. Similar protective works are ongoing in the New Cantt Road area. Dhami reiterated the government’s dedication to fulfilling its developmental promises and criticized political opponents for disseminating false information due to their lack of tangible achievements. The Chief Minister discussed a range of policy initiatives introduced by the state government, including the enforcement of an anti-conversion law, the Uniform Civil Code, legislation to hold accountable those responsible for damage caused during riots, and an anti-cheating law for recruitment exams. According to Dhami, the anti-cheating law has ensured transparency in recruitment processes, enabling over 34,000 young individuals to secure government positions. Dhami also spoke about employment and entrepreneurial programs, such as the state's startup policy, One District One Product initiative, House of Himalayas, the homestay program, Wed in Uttarakhand, and the Solar Self-Employment Scheme. These initiatives aim to create job opportunities within villages and towns. He stated that the state's unemployment rate has decreased by 4.4 percentage points and that Uttarakhand has achieved the top rank in NITI Aayog's Sustainable Development Goals Index. The Chief Minister expressed the government's goal of building an Uttarakhand where young people can find employment locally and where women achieve economic independence. Cabinet minister Ganesh Joshi mentioned that infrastructure developments concerning roads, drinking water, community buildings, and other public amenities are advancing in the Mussoorie constituency under the Chief Minister's guidance. Other public figures and local leaders attended the event, underscoring the significance of the projects and the collaborative effort behind them.
