Стојанче ќе одговара за самоубиството на Ивана, второстепениот суд му ја одби жалбата

The appellate court in Skopje rejected the appeal filed by Stojanče Jovanovski, who was initially convicted of causing his wife Ivana Jovanovska's suicide. The court stated that the appeal was unfounded and upheld the verdict from the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje, case number K.br.551/26, dated May 7, 2026. On March 2, Ivana Jovanovska jumped from the sixth floor of the Taftaliže neighborhood in Skopje, killing herself along with their six-year-old daughter Katja. The criminal court in May convicted Stojanče Jovanovski of three criminal charges related to continuous domestic violence, resulting in a total prison sentence of 12 years. He received five years for bodily harm, three years for threatening security, and five years for instigating and assisting suicide. The court confirmed that between 2023 and 2026, Stojanče subjected his wife to severe and inhumane treatment, leading to her psychological distress and feelings of hopelessness. As a direct result, she committed suicide by jumping from the terrace with their child.

The court found that Jovanovski had subjected his wife to prolonged abuse over several years, leading to her psychological distress and eventual suicide. In the second case, the luxury Audi A6 purchased by former mayor Ruzhdi Merko for 67,000 euros was sold at auction for 22,000 euros. The proceeds will be used to repay debts owed by the municipality of Struga.
