Enugu State has launched a new television programme called Enugu to the World (ETTW) to highlight the state's ongoing transformation, emerging investment opportunities, and the people, policies, and projects shaping its development. The initiative aims to provide an in-depth look at Enugu’s progress across sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, youth and sports development, women empowerment, and support for small and medium-scale enterprises. The weekly 30-minute talk show and documentary-style current affairs programme features compelling storytelling, project inspections, documentaries, and interviews with local residents, government officials, policy experts, business owners, investors, and community leaders. The programme offers a range of segments, including Big Lens, Enugu in the News, Real Talk, Nkowa Enugu, 042 Teasers, Akụkọ Ndị Be Anyị, Enugu Diary, and Vox Pop. These segments explore governance, infrastructure, investment, innovation, culture, entertainment, and the daily lives of Enugu residents. The content is broadcasted on multiple television networks, including ARISE News, Channels Television, TVC, AIT, Afia TV, ETV, Enugu State Television, and the NTA Network. It is also accessible via digital platforms such as YouTube. The programme airs at different times each day on various channels. For instance, it appears on ARISE News on Mondays at 3:30 pm, AIT on Tuesdays at 3:30 pm, Channels Television on Wednesdays at 3:30 pm, TVC News on Thursdays at 1:30 pm, Afia TV on Fridays at 1:30 pm, ETV, Enugu State Television on Saturdays at 7 pm, and the NTA Network on Sundays at 2:30 pm. Viewers can also follow updates and highlights on the programme’s social media pages, including Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). The launch of ETTW is intended to connect Enugu residents both within the state and abroad with developments happening in their home region. It also serves to inform Nigerians and the global community about the opportunities arising from Enugu’s transformation. The programme invites viewers to engage with the weekly episodes and participate in the narrative of Enugu, described as a state of great potential and promise. In addition to Enugu’s initiatives, Ogun State has also announced a series of major infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the state’s development and preserving its cultural heritage. The Ogun State Executive Council has approved the construction of new legislative quarters, housing schemes, the reconstruction of the Ogun State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, and the rehabilitation of major roads throughout the state. These projects are part of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to sustainable development, urban regeneration, and the preservation of traditional institutions. Among the approved projects are the construction of 450 two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows with basic infrastructure, the development of 28 new official quarters for members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, and the construction of 28 sellable duplexes at Ibara Government Reservation Area (GRA) Scheme II. Additionally, the Ogun State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, will undergo reconstruction. Several strategic roads across the state will be rehabilitated to improve connectivity and support economic activities. The Executive Council also approved the upgrading and recognition of traditional stools, including the Akoko of Tongeji Island, the Onitafin of Orile Itafin, and the Olu of Orile Itori-Odo. This move reflects the administration’s effort to strengthen traditional institutions and ensure their continued relevance in contemporary governance. The approval includes the creation and upgrading of certain coronet stools under the Ijebu, Egba, and Yewa Traditional Councils. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, emphasized that these projects are part of the administration’s broader strategy to replace outdated public infrastructure with modern, functional, and durable facilities. He noted that many government buildings inherited by the current administration were over 50 years old and had deteriorated beyond economical rehabilitation. The reconstruction of these buildings is seen as a critical component of the state’s urban regeneration programme. Akinmade highlighted that the 450-unit housing project complements the administration’s affordable housing initiative by increasing access to decent accommodation and stimulating economic activity through the construction sector. The 28 sellable duplexes at Ibara GRA Scheme II are expected to contribute to the local real estate market and support community development. These developments in both Enugu and Ogun states illustrate the ongoing efforts of regional governments to promote economic growth, infrastructure improvement, and cultural preservation. By showcasing their achievements through media and implementing tangible projects, these states aim to attract investment, foster development, and enhance the quality of life for their residents.
