The number of convictions for sexual crimes increased by 15% among adults and 6% among minors in 2025, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). The figures highlight a notable rise in such cases compared to the previous year, with 4,531 adults convicted of sexual offenses recorded in the Central Register of Sexual Offenders. This represents a 15.1% increase over 2024, with 97.6% of these individuals being male. Among minors, 584 were registered, marking a 6.2% increase, with 97.1% of them also being male. Adults committed 6,210 sexual offenses in 2025, an 18.7% increase from 2024. Of this total, 1,461 were sexual aggressions against children under 16 years old, including 63 classified as rape. Another 3,146 sexual aggressions were directed at victims aged 16 and older, with 131 of these categorized as rape. For minors, 841 sexual offenses were recorded, up 1.9% from 2024. These included 491 sexual aggressions against children under 16, with 70 classified as rape, and 250 against victims aged 16 and older, of which 31 were considered rape. The percentage increase was particularly pronounced in cases involving rape of victims aged 16 and above. In terms of overall adult conviction rates, 306,237 adults were registered in the Central Register of Convicted Persons in 2025, representing a 0.2% decrease from the prior year. Males accounted for 80% of all convicts, while females made up 20%. The conviction rate per 1,000 inhabitants stood at 7.4, with males having a higher rate of 12.2 and females at 2.9. The highest conviction rates were observed among individuals aged 21 to 30. Spanish nationals constituted 70.2% of all convicts, although the conviction rate among foreign nationals was significantly higher, reaching 15.3 per 1,000 inhabitants, nearly double that of Spanish citizens at 6.1. Of the convicted adults, 73.9% were found guilty of a single offense, while 26.1% had multiple charges. In total, 461,224 crimes were recorded in 2025, a 1.2% increase from the previous year. Crimes related to road safety accounted for 22.4% of all incidents, followed by injuries at 17.3% and thefts at 16.4%. The regions with the highest crime rates were Ceuta, Melilla, and the Balearic Islands, recording 21.3, 15.1, and 14.3 crimes per 1,000 inhabitants respectively. Conversely, regions such as Castile-La Mancha, Madrid, and Galicia reported lower rates, at 8.9, 9.1, and 9.7 per 1,000 inhabitants. For minors, 13,245 were registered in the Central Register of Juvenile Sentences in 2025, a 1.8% decline from 2024. Male minors comprised 80.5% of the total, while female minors made up 19.5%. The conviction rate for minors was 6.2 per 1,000 inhabitants, with males at 9.6 and females at 2.5. The age group of 17-year-olds showed the highest conviction rate. Spanish nationality was predominant among juvenile offenders, accounting for 78.5% of cases, though the rate among foreign minors was notably higher, at 10.2 per 1,000 inhabitants, almost double that of Spanish minors at 5.6. Three out of five juvenile offenders were convicted of a single offense, while two out of five faced multiple charges.
