Japanin avaruusluotain testasi asteroidien torjuntaa

A Japanese space probe, Hayabusa2, successfully tested asteroid deflection technology by flying past the Torifune asteroid at over 18,000 kilometers per hour. The probe, roughly the size of a refrigerator, came within 800 meters of the asteroid, which would make it one of the closest asteroid flybys in history if confirmed. This mission continues the work started by NASA's DART test in 2022, where a spacecraft intentionally collided with an asteroid to alter its orbit. The purpose was to test precision navigation technology that could potentially be used to redirect hazardous asteroids in the future. No real asteroid threat to Earth currently exists. The probe also collected data on the asteroid's surface, structure, and temperature, which could be valuable if future asteroid redirection becomes necessary. Hayabusa2 will continue its journey toward its next target, the 1998KY26 asteroid, expected to reach in 2031.

Lecture du biais (Centre): The article provides a balanced overview of a scientific mission focused on asteroid deflection technology. It mentions the technical aspects of the mission, its continuation of previous international efforts like NASA’s DART test, and emphasizes that there is no current asteroid threat to Earth. No
