The deal was announced during a meeting at the White House on August 31, 2026, where U.S. President Donald Trump met with Richard Ascroft, the company’s North America CEO. During the session focused on healthcare affordability, the two parties formalized the arrangement, which aims to lower prescription costs for millions of Americans. Under the terms of the agreement, Sun Pharma will offer its medications at the lowest available prices to state Medicaid programs in the U.S. This pricing structure ensures that buyers, primarily public health insurance systems, can access cost-effective treatments. According to a regulatory filing made by the company on Tuesday, the MFN pricing policy will also apply to all future innovative medicines launched by Sun Pharma in the U.S. market.
