Samsung has introduced two new smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, to the Chilean market starting July 29. These devices were unveiled during the Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London earlier this year. The launch marks a significant update to Samsung’s wearable ecosystem in the region, emphasizing the company's focus on integrating health monitoring into daily life through advanced technology. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 both feature the newly launched Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, which enhances performance capabilities compared to previous models. This advancement aligns with Samsung’s strategy to position its wearables as essential tools for health management. Both watches operate on the latest version of the Wear OS 7 operating system, combined with the One UI 9 Watch interface, enabling them to translate complex biometric data into practical recommendations using integrated artificial intelligence features. Bernardita Orellana, Communications Manager for Samsung Chile, highlighted the key attributes of these new models. She noted that the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is designed for extreme conditions and outdoor adventures. It boasts a titanium case resistant to impacts and a sapphire glass screen capable of achieving a brightness level of 5,000 nits, the highest in the market. This ensures visibility even under intense sunlight. The watch includes a larger battery capacity of 800 mAh, representing a 35 percent increase over the previous Ultra model, while maintaining a 12 percent reduction in overall thickness. It targets high-level sports enthusiasts with specialized functions such as Trail Run, which tracks elevation changes and terrain impact, along with real-time nutrition alerts to optimize hydration. Additionally, it offers water resistance up to 10 ATM and EN13319 certification, allowing automatic recording of diving parameters like depth and temperature. In contrast, the Galaxy Watch9 focuses on health and wellness, offering features such as sleep apnea detection approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), blood pressure monitoring, body energy tracking, and cardiovascular health assessment. Its slim and comfortable design makes it suitable for everyday use, supported by improved battery life and fast charging capabilities to ensure prolonged usage without interruptions. Available in sizes of 40 and 44 millimeters, the Watch9 features a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits and enhanced battery capacities of 390 and 445 mAh respectively. Both models incorporate internal upgrades, including a renewed processor, increased battery size, and a suite of health metrics that provide users with more comprehensive insights. The Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event revealed that both devices center their monitoring experience around the BioActive sensor, enhancing the accuracy and reliability of health-related data collected. These new releases reflect Samsung’s ongoing commitment to innovation within the wearable technology sector, aiming to meet diverse consumer needs ranging from professional athletes to individuals seeking continuous health monitoring.
