The San Lorenzo Bridge, one of the key connections between Chimalhuacán and Nezahualcóyotl, has been fully closed to traffic starting Tuesday as part of reconstruction work led by the federal government. The project, managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), is located behind the Universidad Tecnológica de Nezahualcóyotl (UTN). The bridge’s closure will impact daily commutes and transportation routes in the area. Work on the bridge includes expanding one-way lanes to two, constructing new access points, reinforcing concrete structures, grading land, paving roads, and installing both horizontal and vertical signage. Authorities have warned that the closure will remain in effect until the completion of the works. Drivers and residents are advised to use an alternate route: turn left onto Calle Abedules from the intersection of Calle 4 and Avenida Benito Juárez, proceed along Calle Río de la Compañía, and continue toward the Jacarandas Bridge. The San Lorenzo Bridge sees hundreds of vehicles passing through daily. With population and vehicle growth, frequent traffic jams have become common, complicating mobility in the region.
