The process saw a high level of participation, with 41 bids submitted for the construction contract and 77 for the supervisory role. During the current administration, over 100 kilometers of roads have been repaired, and more than 20,500 potholes have been addressed. These efforts have required an investment exceeding $289.8 billion, highlighting the long-term commitment to maintaining and upgrading the city's road network. The work has included extensive repairs and maintenance, ensuring safer and smoother travel for citizens. The recent allocation builds upon this foundation, aiming to further enhance mobility and reduce traffic disruptions. In parallel, the National Roads Institute (Invías) has announced a separate investment of $42.8 billion to maintain a critical section of the Medellín-Bogotá highway. This stretch, located near San Luis, has faced criticism due to poor conditions affecting local communities. The funds are intended to improve transitability, safety, and overall road quality along this key route. So far, six of eight previously prioritized critical points have been successfully addressed, including areas such as San Vicente, El Tesoro, and El 90. Work continues on the remaining two sectors, which are scheduled for rehabilitation starting July 14, 2026. The Invías project has already deployed nearly 904 cubic meters of asphalt mix, sufficient for approximately 2.04 kilometers of road repair. This material has been used to restore damaged sections in targeted areas, significantly improving surface conditions. The agency plans to install another 900 cubic meters of asphalt mix in the upcoming phase, completing the treatment of all eight priority zones. The timing of these interventions aligns with community demands and agreements reached during local dialogues, demonstrating a collaborative approach to infrastructure planning.
