Centre asks Delhi Gymkhana to explain why it should not be evicted

The Union government has issued a show-cause notice to the Delhi Gymkhana Club, demanding it explain why it should not be evicted from its 27.3-acre premises in central Delhi. The notice was sent on Monday, requiring representatives of the club to appear before the Land and Development Office on July 7. If they fail to respond, the case could be decided ex parte. The club, one of Delhi's oldest and most exclusive social and sporting clubs, has already challenged the eviction order in the Delhi High Court, which denied interim relief but issued summons to those challenging the order. The government claims the land is needed for 'defence infrastructure', 'governance facilities', and 'public security purposes' and asserts that the club's continued occupation is unauthorized after its lease expired on May 22.

Lecture du biais (Centre): The article presents the government's position and the club's legal challenge in a balanced manner, without overtly favoring either side. It reports both the government's claim that the land is needed for public purposes and the club's status as a longstanding institution. There is no clear slant in

Pourquoi ces scores (Factualité 95 · Objectivité 85): Factuality is high as the article accurately reports the government's action and legal proceedings. Objectivity is slightly lower due to some emotionally charged descriptions of the club as 'one of the national capital’s oldest and most exclusive' which could imply judgment.
