Banker-turned-barefoot artist and ceramicist recreate Klimt's The Kiss

A Queensland couple, Brett Campbell and Kari Didi, spent six years meticulously recreating Gustav Klimt's famous painting 'The Kiss' as a large-scale glass and ceramic mosaic. The project began as a personal challenge and became a significant artistic endeavor that deepened their relationship. Campbell transitioned from a banking career to becoming a full-time artist after feeling disillusioned with corporate life, choosing to work barefoot to connect more deeply with his craft. The mosaic uses extensive amounts of gold leaf, which has significantly increased in cost over the past six years, adding substantial financial value to the artwork. The completed piece is now displayed at the Maleny Yoga Shed.
