Ayodhya Ram Temple probe widens as SIT examines trust finances since 2020

A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has broadened its inquiry into alleged financial irregularities related to the Ram Temple donation collection process and is now examining the entire financial framework of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust since its establishment in February 2020. The SIT, which started its probe on June 13, has requested detailed records regarding the receipt, movement, and utilization of funds, construction expenditures, land purchases, banking transactions, and internal financial controls. The trust reportedly collected over ₹82.78 crore in donations between April 2025 and February 2026, alongside earning ₹138.03 crore in interest from bank deposits. The investigation is now shifting focus from individual employees to the broader financial management system of the trust.
