L'association des avocats veut une indemnisation pour la victime en cas de réduction de peine du coupable.

The Dutch organization Langzs, which represents victims of violent and sexual crimes, has called for compensation for victims if perpetrators receive reduced sentences due to delays in legal proceedings. This proposal comes after an RTL Nieuws investigation revealed that 669 offenders of serious crimes such as murder and child abuse received sentence reductions between 2008 and July 2026 because their cases were processed too slowly. Some offenders received up to three years less in prison time. Langzs argues that these delays cause additional harm to victims, including psychological distress and hindered grief processing. The organization has been raising this issue with various Justice Ministers for years and now demands sufficient funding and resources for all parties involved in the criminal justice system to ensure timely case handling.
