The dissolution of the Ministry of Equality represents a political setback for the Petro administration, which had promised to manage social policies for vulnerable populations. Initially led by Vice President Francia Márquez, the ministry faced challenges, including poor budget execution, only 1.6% of its 2024 budget was spent. It had three ministers within 18 months and managed programs such as "Young People in Peace," which encountered implementation issues. From January 2025, the ministry oversaw the Integrated Centers aimed at supporting migrant populations, having invested 17 billion pesos by September of that year.
