BGA 70-year-old retired employee of Varna municipality has been accused of falsifying documents certifying tolerance for construction in three properties in the 'Baba Alino' area, claiming that 20 residential buildings existed there before March 31, 2001. According to prosecutors, he was a staff member of the Primorski district during May to July 2023 and fabricated these official documents. If proven guilty, he could face up to five years in prison. The scandal began in May when authorities revealed that declarations were submitted stating that constructions in Baba Alino predated 2001. Under the Territorial Planning Law, such structures built before 2001 are considered tolerable if they lack building permits. This allowed newly constructed buildings to be documented as old.
