In July 2026, the annual charity initiative known as “Pričarajmo nasmeh” took place once again, offering free summer holidays to children across Slovenia. Organized by the company Tuš in collaboration with its suppliers and the Red Cross of Slovenia, this year’s event brought children to the health resort Debeli rtič, located along the Adriatic coast. The initiative has been running for 24 years, providing countless children with unforgettable experiences during their time at the resort. Some of these children have since grown into adults, bringing their families back to relive the memories made during their childhood visits. This year, the organizers also ensured that each child received a backpack filled with essential items such as t-shirts, sun hats, water bottles, sunscreen, and other supplies needed for a comfortable stay on the beach.
The program specifically targets children who might otherwise miss out on such opportunities due to financial constraints or social challenges. Each year, the selection process is conducted jointly by the Red Cross of Slovenia and its 56 regional branches, alongside Social Work Centers. These organizations identify eligible children and ensure they receive the support necessary to participate in the program. During their week-long stay at Debeli rtič, the children are cared for by experienced caregivers who guide them through a variety of activities designed to promote emotional, social, and personal development. These include sports, creative workshops, and games aimed at fostering a sense of belonging, independence, and mutual trust. Many children learn new skills during their time there, including swimming lessons, which can be life-changing for some.
The event was marked by a special visit from Andraž Tuš, director of the company Engrotuš, who expressed his pride in being part of the initiative for over two decades. He highlighted how the project has created lasting memories for both the children and the staff involved, noting the many drawings and stories collected over the years. Tuš thanked the company's suppliers and the Red Cross for their continued partnership in making the initiative possible. He emphasized that the goal is to provide every child, regardless of their circumstances, with a week of carefree fun and joy.
Mag. Lilijana Kozlovič, head of the Debeli rtič Health Resort, shared her enthusiasm about the event, particularly noting that the resort is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year. She praised Tuš and its partners for contributing significantly to the well-being of thousands of children over the past few decades. Kozlovič described the experience as one where dreams come true and unforgettable memories are created, reinforcing the commitment to ensuring that even the most vulnerable children can enjoy a happy and safe holiday.
One highlight of the event was the visit by singer Nina Pušlar, who performed for the first group of children staying at the resort. Her presence brought additional joy to the children, who sang along with her and received personalized autographs as souvenirs. The interaction between Pušlar and the children underscored the community spirit behind the initiative, showing how public figures contribute to creating positive and memorable experiences for young participants.
As the event continues throughout the summer, more groups of children will join the existing ones at Debeli rtič, ensuring that the tradition of “Pričarajmo nasmeh” remains strong. With ongoing support from Tuš, the Red Cross, and other partners, the initiative aims to continue providing children with the opportunity to create joyful memories and develop important life skills during their time at the resort. The success of the program highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing social inequalities and promoting the well-being of children in need.
