The child was taken to a clinic associated with the Vienna Health Workers' Union, where she was not accepted as an urgent case. Her parents were forced to complete forms while she waited in a poor state for treatment. Shortly afterward, the child passed away. Post-mortem examination revealed she had suffered from severe pneumonia, which was triggered by the flu. The parents, through their lawyer, have filed a lawsuit against the pediatrician, the city of Vienna, and the Red Cross. They stated that financial compensation is not their primary concern, as they are well-off. Instead, they seek clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding their child’s death. “Our clients want the truth,” said the lawyer. All parties involved have denied responsibility for the child’s death. An attempt to reach a settlement early in the proceedings failed, prompting the court to schedule hearings with several witnesses. A judge has also been appointed to determine whether there were errors in the child’s care.
