A group of hikers will embark on a challenging yet scenic trek to the mountain refuge known as "Koča na Loki" beneath the peak of Raduha, located in the Slovenian village of Luče. The journey, which begins from the high-altitude village of Luče, is part of the annual "Laško Gremo v hribe" hiking initiative, which promotes eco-friendly travel by encouraging walkers instead of vehicle use. This year’s event, scheduled for August 8th, marks the fifth edition of the popular mountain festival, offering participants a unique blend of music, food, and nature. The hike will start at around 9:30 AM and conclude by noon, with the destination being the 1,534-meter-high Koča na Loki. The route from Luče to Koča na Loki involves a three-hour walk through marked trails, leading hikers past historic farmhouses, through meadows, and into dense forests. The path winds its way up the slopes of Raduha, passing over several peaks including Proševec and Obojnik, before reaching the forest road near the Radušnik farm. From there, the trail continues upward, crossing two steep inclines toward the Huda Rava plateau, where hikers can rest and take in panoramic views. At approximately 1,300 meters above sea level, the path splits, those heading directly to Koča na Loki have a shorter route, while others continue further to reach the summit of Raduha. The organizers emphasize that vehicles remain in the valley, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Hikers are encouraged to bring their own supplies, as the event includes live music, local cuisine, and refreshments. The hike offers both physical challenge and natural beauty, with opportunities to spot wildlife such as foxes and rabbits along the way. The trail is well-marked, making navigation straightforward despite the rugged terrain. Luče, one of four Slovenian alpine villages, serves as the starting point for this adventure. The village provides free parking for visitors, who then begin their ascent via a set of steps leading into the woods. The trail extends beyond Koča na Loki, connecting to other popular destinations such as the Veliki Rogatc and the Dleskovška Planota, all the way to Ojstrica. While many hikers choose to visit Koča na Loki, fewer venture further up to the summit of Raduha, adding to the allure of the journey.
