Earlier in the week, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had arrived in Doha to personally offer their condolences to Sheikh Tamim. Their visit occurred just days before the state mourning period concluded on Wednesday, which marked the final day of public observance for Sheikh Hamad’s passing. On the same day, several international figures paid their respects to Sheikh Tamim in Doha. Among them were Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who visited shortly after his country launched an attack on what it described as US military targets in Qatar. According to reports, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that it had struck Qatar’s Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US military installation in the Middle East, using ballistic missiles. This incident followed tensions between Iran and the United States, particularly regarding regional security and military presence. Other dignitaries who visited Sheikh Tamim included Jordan’s King Abdullah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu, and the Chairman of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al Alimi.
