Voice actor Eric Bauza, best known for lending his voice to iconic Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Porky Pig, has died. He was 46 years old. His family announced the sudden passing on Sunday via a post on his official Instagram account, stating that further details would be provided later. According to reports from Variety, the cause of death was hypertensive cardiovascular disease, and Bauza passed away at his home on Sunday. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s records confirm the cause of death as hypertensive cardiovascular disease. Bauza was born on December 7, 1979, in Ontario, Canada, to parents of Filipino descent. In a 2021 interview with NBC News, he recalled growing up as a devoted fan of Looney Tunes cartoons, noting that he attempted to mimic the characters' voices during his childhood. He described the franchise as transcending language and culture, asserting that the humor was universally understood regardless of geographic origin. His professional trajectory continued the tradition established by Mel Blanc, the legendary voice actor who defined many of these classic characters for decades. Throughout his career, which spanned more than 400 credited roles according to some accounts, or 935 voice roles across 249 titles according to others, Bauza became one of the most requested voice actors in the industry. His first credit was in the series The Ripping Friends in 2001. Subsequent work included voicing characters in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Chowder, Alvin and the Chipmunks 2, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Fanboy and Chum Chum, and Ben 10: Omniverse. He also voiced the title character in The Adventures of Puss in Boots and Baby Fozzie in Muppet Babies. A notable early breakthrough occurred when he assumed the role of Stimpy from Billy West in Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon, a mature adaptation of the original Nickelodeon series. Bauza officially joined the Looney Tunes roster in 2020. For many newer audiences, he became synonymous with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. He shared the role of Bugs Bunny with fellow voice actor Jeff Bergman. Beyond the Warner Bros. lineup, he also voiced Woody Woodpecker. In the 2021 film Space Jam: A New Legacy, he voiced Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, and Foghorn Leghorn. He reprised these roles, along with that of Road Runner, in the recent animated hit Coyote vs. Acme. In that film, he also lent his voice to Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig, Road Runner, and Charlie Dog. He recently appeared in the released film Forgotten Island. His work extended significantly into the gaming and broader animation sectors. He portrayed Toad General in The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023 and repeated the role in its sequel, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The latter film is currently the fifth highest-grossing movie globally this year. In 2026 alone, he participated in projects including Chibiverse, Minions & Monsters, Rick and Morty, Superkitties, and Avatar: Seven Havens. At the time of his death, Bauza was in pre-production for two additional projects: Bye Bye Bunny: A Looney Tunes Musical, in which he was set to play Daffy Duck, and The Dragon Masters, where he was scheduled to voice King Shogun. Bauza received widespread critical acclaim for his performances. Between 2022 and 2025, he won three Emmy Awards for outstanding voice performance in television series. Specifically, he received the first-ever Children’s and Family Emmy for Outstanding Voice Performance in an Animated Program in 2022 for Looney Tunes Cartoons. He added two more Children’s and Family Emmys in subsequent years: one in 2023 for Bugs Bunny Builders and another in 2025 for Teen Titans Go!. He was nominated for five Emmy Awards total for his work on Looney Tunes Cartoons, Muppet Babies, and The Adventures of Puss in Boots, with an additional nomination for Daffy in Wackyland. Channing Dungey, Chairman of Warner Bros. Television Group and US Networks, issued a statement praising Bauza’s contributions. She described him as a unique voice talent who brought joy and laughter to millions worldwide. Dungey noted that during his 15 years with Warner Bros. Animation, Bauza carried on the legendary legacy of the Looney Tunes, a task he considered among the greatest honors of his life.
