La escasez de agua en el suelo en el sur de Moravia y en parte de Olomouc es crítica

The article reports on severe soil drought conditions in southern Moravia and parts of the Olomoucký region, noting that soil moisture levels are critically low. Heavy rains from Monday to Wednesday did little to alleviate the situation, as rainfall was weaker in these areas compared to the rest of the country. Scientists from the Institute of Global Change Research at the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (CzechGlobe) have mapped the current state of soil moisture, showing that some regions, particularly in southern Moravia like Znojemsko, Břeclavsko, and Brněnsko, have less than 10% soil saturation. The eastern part of the area near the Slovak border has slightly better conditions, but still remains below 40% saturation. The drought has been intense since early spring due to insufficient winter, spring, and summer rainfall, exacerbated by an extreme heatwave in late June, which set several temperature records, including the highest ever recorded in the Czech Republic.
