Additionally, Kryvytsky named the current head of long-range attacks within the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) as the new acting defense minister. These appointments were approved by Parliament the day before, following Kryvytsky’s successful candidacy vote earlier in the week. This governmental reshuffle, initiated by Zelensky less than a year after the last major cabinet overhaul, has ignited widespread debate in Ukraine. Zelensky, meanwhile, has also announced the appointment of the former Interior Minister, Igor Klimenko, as the new head of the National Security Council, replacing Rustem Umerov. Protesters in Kyiv have expressed frustration over the abrupt change in leadership, arguing that Fedorov’s expertise and popularity among both military personnel and civilians make him an essential figure in the nation’s defense strategy.
