Out of 60 randomly selected seed samples tested, 14 (23%) were non-compliant due to poor viability, primarily caused by seed age. While some seed varieties still failed to meet legal requirements, there was an improvement over last year, with none of this year’s samples showing zero viability, unlike 2025 when four did. The agency advises consumers to check packaging dates before purchasing to ensure seed viability.
