COThe 34th edition of the traditional Pital de Megua Cake Festival set a new record, selling over 31,730 cakes in four days and attracting around 20,000 visitors. The event, held in the Atlántico department, has become one of the most important gastronomic festivals in the region. According to data provided by the Baranoa City Council, this year’s sales surpassed those of the previous edition, which had sold 29,609 cakes. The festival generated significant economic impact, creating 600 direct jobs and 50 indirect jobs, benefiting many families in the area. Sixty-three cake makers participated, preserving a culinary tradition that has become a cultural symbol of the region. In addition to the cake sales, 58 local businesses offering crafts, jewelry, typical sweets, and refreshing drinks were part of the event, further boosting the local economy.
