En 2001 Prensa Española se fusionó con el grupo vasco Grupo Correo para formar Vocento, que sigue siendo una empresa que cotiza en bolsa en la que las familias fundadoras (incluidas las descendientes de Luca de Tena, Ybarra y otras familias de accionistas vascas) tienen bloques significativos.
