For several days, daily life ground to a halt as vehicles ran out of fuel and people struggled to navigate even short distances. Perishable food items have largely disappeared from store shelves, as refrigeration systems fail. Those few stores still operating rely on expensive generators, making basic necessities unaffordable for many. Despite the hardships, some grassroots efforts are emerging to assist affected communities. Blogger Olena Gerasimenko collaborates with local businesses in Simferopol to provide clean drinking water to hospitals and kindergartens, as well as to families impacted by the power cuts.
