VIDEO hooligans shadowed the show! Players sent to the locker room: "We had to check if he was hit"

In a dramatic turn during the third round of the Dutch Eredivisie, Feyenoord secured a 5-2 victory over Cambuur after fans caused a lengthy stoppage due to pyrotechnics. The match, played at De Kuip in Rotterdam, was interrupted for more than half an hour as fans ignited fireworks and launched them onto the pitch and surrounding stands. The disruption began in the 12th minute when Feyenoord supporters set off numerous firecrackers, some of which landed on the field and others near the opposing fans' stands. According to reports, several Cambuur fans were hit by the debris, though there was no official confirmation of injuries. Referee Danny Makkelie ordered both teams into the dressing rooms, adhering to protocol under the Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) rules, which stipulate that matches can only be halted if players or officials are injured. Makkelie later explained the decision to ESPN, stating, “We had to check whether a player was hurt.” He added, “I saw that fans were hit and believe they received assistance. I hope they are okay. But according to the protocol, the game does not stop because of this.” After the interruption, Feyenoord took control of the match, scoring four goals in the first half. Goals came from Gjivai Zechiel (17', 83'), Luciano Valente (26'), Thijs Jansen (42') and Ayase Ueda (45'+1). Cambuur managed two responses, with Rafik El Arguioui scoring twice in the second half (70', 80'). The final score was 5-2 in favor of Feyenoord. Earlier in the day, PSV Eindhoven defeated Groningen 5-1, with Croatian international Ivan Perišić contributing two goals. Perišić opened the scoring in the 35th minute, following an assist from young forward Ruben van Bommel, son of Belgium national team coach and former Dutch international Marc van Bommel. Perišić’s performance continued with another goal in the 53rd minute, while Sergino Dest added a late goal in the 56th minute to seal the win. Perišić, who has scored 29 goals and recorded 28 assists in 82 appearances across all competitions, now sits among the league's top performers. His contributions have been crucial for PSV, helping them climb the table. With three wins in the third round, PSV and Feyenoord each earned seven points, while AZ leads the standings with nine points. As the season progresses, the Eredivisie continues to deliver high-stakes encounters, with fan behavior adding an unpredictable element to the competition. The incident involving Feyenoord's fans highlights the ongoing challenge of managing crowd safety and maintaining order during matches. The KNVB will likely review the situation to ensure such disruptions do not recur. For now, the focus remains on the results, with PSV and Feyenoord leading the charge in the race for the title.
