Polish tourists trapped in the Tatra Mountains.

Two Polish tourists became stranded on the southern face of Batyżowiecki Szczyt in the Slovak part of the Carpathians. The rescue operation took place under extremely difficult conditions, including dense fog, heavy rain, and temperatures close to freezing. The Slovak Mountain Rescue Service (HZS) conducted a prolonged search and rescue mission throughout the day, using helicopters when weather conditions allowed. The two men, aged 28 and 27, were found exhausted and hypothermic but were successfully rescued and transported to safety. According to HZS, the climbers were inadequately prepared both technically and equipment-wise, lacked sufficient experience for the terrain, and had not adequately studied alternative descent routes. Their climb was also poorly timed, and darkness, fog, and weak headlamp light further complicated their situation.
