RO€700 million energy deal: Premier Energy's takeover of Energy Distribution Oltenia, with 1.5 million customers, is under review by the authorities
The Romanian Competition Council has announced it is reviewing a potential acquisition by Premier Energy PLC, which aims to purchase Evryo Power S.A. and Felix Distribution Holdings S.R.L., including Distribuție Energie Oltenia (formerly CEZ Distribuție). The deal, valued at €700 million, would grant Premier Energy control over the electricity distribution network serving over 1.5 million customers in southern-western Romania. The transaction requires approval from the Competition Council to ensure it maintains a competitive market environment. Premier Energy previously acquired two energy projects from the nephew of former Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu in 2024.
