Markapuram police have arrested a man linked to two murder cases in the district, recovering stolen property and weapons during the operation. The arrests occurred on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in DG Peta village, located within the Chandrasekharapuram (CS Puram) mandal. According to the police, the accused, identified as Pavali Suresh, was apprehended after investigators connected him to two separate incidents involving fatal violence. Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju addressed a press conference in Ongole, confirming that the accused had attacked Pavali Venkata Subbamma, a 56-year-old woman from DG Peta, on August 13, 2026. She was returning home with a bundle of fodder when she was assaulted, resulting in the theft of her gold chain and earrings. Her brother filed a complaint at the CS Puram Police Station, prompting the formation of eight special investigative teams. These teams conducted extensive inquiries and ultimately identified and detained Pavali Suresh. During interrogation, Suresh confessed to his involvement in another case in which he murdered Dega Ratthamma, also from DG Peta, in October 2024. The motive behind both crimes was reportedly the theft of jewelry. Meanwhile, in Delhi, a 31-year-old software engineer, Vinay Gupta, was allegedly murdered by his wife and her relatives following a domestic dispute. The incident occurred at his home in Laxmi Park, where a conflict arose over administering medicine to their child. Rekha, Gupta’s wife, reportedly became enraged after he spoke to her in a raised voice. She returned with her family members, including her two brothers, a sister-in-law, her father, an uncle, and another person, and proceeded to assault Gupta. The family alleges that the attack was premeditated, with Rekha disabling the CCTV system to avoid surveillance. The police have arrested four individuals, including Rekha, her two brothers, and another accused. A forensic team is collecting evidence from the scene, and a case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita is being processed.
