This weekend, the Crane Grand Prix

Kranj will host the 58th edition of the traditional cycling festival Velika nagrada (Great Prize) on Saturday, August 29, with races taking place over three days beginning on Tuesday, August 27. The event, organized by the Kranj Cycling Club (Factor Racing by Cycling Team Kranj), includes races for all age groups, featuring both novice and professional cyclists. On Wednesday, children who have not yet trained in cycling will get their first taste of competitive racing, starting at 6 p.m. A unique night race, known as the DKV Mobility Night Race, will follow later in the evening, marking the only nighttime cycling race in Slovenia. On Thursday, the main event of the festival begins at 1 p.m. with the 58th Velika nagrada Kranj, titled GP Kranj I feel Slovenia. This race is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious in Slovenia, drawing cyclists from all licensed categories. The course will follow the “old Kranj circuit,” with riders climbing the cultural Jelenov Hill 66 times during the event.
