The deadline for companies and sole traders to declare their income expires today, the NRA recalls.

The deadline for companies and individual traders (ET) to submit their annual tax declarations and pay any outstanding taxes expires tonight at midnight, according to the National Revenue Agency (NAP). Nearly 434,000 businesses and individuals engaged in ET activities have already declared and paid their taxes. Of these, almost 62,000 were annual tax declarations submitted by individual traders and farmers who chose this taxation method. By June 30, self-employed individuals conducting trade, individual traders, and farmers who opted for this taxation system must declare and pay final social security contributions. Alongside their annual tax declaration, they must also submit Form No. 6 detailing the total amount of social security contributions owed for the previous year. Today is also the last day to declare and pay corporate income tax, the tax on expenses, the tax on revenues of budgetary enterprises, and the tax on ship operations. As of now, nearly 372,000 companies have already reported their incomes to NAP before the deadline. Tax and social security declarations and documents, as well as payments to the state budget, are submitted online through the NAP Electronic Services

The deadline for companies and sole traders to declare their income has expired today, as reminded by the National Revenue Agency (NA P). According to the agency, the final date by which businesses and sole traders must submit their annual tax returns and pay any outstanding taxes was midnight tonight on June 30. This marks the end of the period during which these entities were required to file their reports and settle their financial obligations.

As of now, nearly 434,000 companies and individuals engaged in business activities have already declared and paid their taxes. Among them, almost 62,000 are the annual tax declarations submitted by sole traders and farmers who opted for this taxation method. By June 30, self-employed individuals conducting trade, sole traders, and farmers choosing this taxation regime must declare and pay their final social security contributions. Alongside their annual tax declaration, they also submit Form No. 6, detailing the total amount of social security contributions due for the previous year.

Today is also the last day for declaring and paying corporate income tax, the tax on expenses, the tax on revenues of budgetary enterprises, and the tax on operations involving ships. As of this moment, approximately 372,000 companies have already declared their incomes to the NAP before the deadline. The submission of tax and social insurance declarations and documents, as well as payments to the state budget, is carried out online via the NAP's Electronic Services Portal, accessible using a personal identification code (PIC) or a qualified electronic signature (QES).

This year’s tax campaign is the first since Bulgaria became a member of the eurozone on January 1, 2026. As a result, taxes for the previous year are declared in leva but are paid in euros. This change reflects the country's transition to the euro currency and aligns its fiscal practices with those of other European Union members. The shift to the euro for tax payments is part of broader economic integration efforts within the EU, aiming to streamline financial transactions and reduce currency conversion complexities for both citizens and businesses.

The process of submitting tax returns and making payments has been largely digitized, emphasizing efficiency and reducing administrative burdens. Individuals and companies are encouraged to use the NAP portal to complete these tasks, ensuring compliance with legal requirements while minimizing delays. However, some challenges remain, particularly for those unfamiliar with digital procedures or lacking access to necessary tools such as PICs or QES. These individuals might face difficulties in meeting deadlines without proper guidance or support.

Various stakeholders have expressed mixed reactions regarding the transition to the euro for tax purposes. While many appreciate the move towards greater alignment with EU standards, others have raised concerns about potential complications, especially for small businesses and sole traders who may struggle with the new system. Some experts suggest that additional measures should be taken to assist taxpayers in adapting to the changes, including more comprehensive information campaigns and improved technical support for the online portal.

Looking ahead, the NAP is expected to continue monitoring compliance and addressing any issues arising from the transition. Authorities may also consider implementing further reforms aimed at simplifying the tax filing process and enhancing taxpayer education. With the successful completion of the current tax season, attention will likely shift toward preparing for future fiscal years, ensuring that all systems are ready for continued operation under the new currency framework.
