Ukraine says it has destroyed eight tankers carrying fuel for Crimea in the Sea of Azov.

Ukrainian forces attacked eight Russian oil tankers in the Azov Sea on July 7, targeting vessels attempting to deliver fuel to Crimea. The attacks were carried out by drones operated by Ukraine’s Forces for Unmanned Systems (FUS), under command of Robert 'Madjar' Broido. According to FUS, the tankers—named Venera-3, Sanar-1, Sanar-17, Klymena, Teti, Aleksandr Savrasov, Penelopa, and another unidentified vessel—were hit and set ablaze. The tankers, built between 2006 and 2012, had a deadweight of around 7,000 tons each. Ukrainian military claims that these strikes have disrupted fuel and lubricant supplies critical for Russian troops in Crimea. The attack coincided with broader efforts to disrupt Russia’s logistics and energy infrastructure in the region. Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged the fuel shortage in Crimea but pledged to restore supply chains.
