Radev explained about "Botash" and cut off: cutting their shirts to find other support
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev stated that Bulgaria is determined to position itself on Europe's energy map ahead of his visit to Ankara for a NATO summit. Regarding the agreement with 'Botash,' Radev clarified that Bulgaria owes $360 million but emphasized this debt would not burden Bulgarian finances. Following discussions between Radev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 'BulgarGaz' and 'Botash' signed a protocol to freeze their contract for 15 months. This allows Bulgaria to pay only for the gas capacity it uses during this period under improved terms. Radev stressed that renegotiating the deal has nothing to do with other projects like the Black Sea pipeline or waterways and is focused solely on optimizing gas-related agreements. He criticized past politicians for failing to utilize the contract effectively, causing reputational damage to Bulgaria as a reliable partner.
