Italy's main railway operator, Trenitalia, has reported a cyberattack that resulted in unauthorized access to some customer data. The incident was disclosed via email to affected clients by Trenitalia, which stated that the breach involved personal data related to travel tickets. However, the company clarified that login credentials, personal account information, or payment details such as card numbers, expiration dates, or security codes were not impacted. Trenitalia informed Italy's data protection authority and filed a complaint with Rome's prosecutor's office. Separately, France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) reported that a recent cyberattack led to the exposure of personal data for 12,800 current and former employees. Earlier this year, France's National Agency for Document Security (ANTS) suffered a large-scale cyberattack and data theft, with a 15-year-old suspect being investigated. In response, the French government allocated €200 million to modernize and strengthen the cybersecurity of various state digital services.
