Old but Still Useful

The town of Bled will host its annual Reuse Festival on Sunday, running from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Zdraviliški Park. The event, organized by the Municipality of Bled, Infrastruktura Bled, and the non-profit group Ekologi brez meja, aims to demonstrate how sustainability can coexist with everyday life without requiring major lifestyle changes. Attendees will have the opportunity to exchange and repair items, highlighting practical ways to extend the lifespan of goods. The festival will feature a second-hand clothing market where visitors can choose from trendy outfits from various brands. A larger flea market will also offer used clothing options. Participants will be able to print their own t-shirts using linocut techniques featuring motifs inspired by Bled. Demonstrations will showcase creative uses for old textiles instead of discarding them. An important part of the festival will focus on practical solutions for prolonging the life of items. A clothing swap area will allow attendees to exchange well-preserved garments for new ones, refreshing their wardrobes without purchasing new items. At a creative workshop led by Nina Holc and Nina Logar, participants will make patchwork quilts or refresh old clothes through printing and illustrations. Alongside this, the Avenue of Bled Taste will offer local food and drinks. Visitors can enjoy pancakes prepared by Tim Bučar in exchange for voluntary contributions, supporting his efforts against Apert syndrome, which requires regular therapy he funds himself. Additionally, used blankets can be donated to help abandoned and abused horses at the Hrtji svet Slovenia organization’s stand. The festival builds on last year's successful turnout and continues to emphasize community involvement in sustainable practices. Organizers stress that sustainability does not necessarily require drastic changes but rather small, practical steps that individuals can take in their daily lives. This approach aligns with broader environmental goals while promoting local creativity and resourcefulness. Participants are encouraged to bring items they no longer need, contributing to the exchange and repair activities.
