The study, focusing on liver metastases, found that endothelial cells producing lipoprotein lipase (LPL) help T cells locate and infiltrate tumors. These cells display tumor-derived materials, enabling immune cells to identify cancer sites. In experiments with mice, increasing LPL levels enhanced T-cell infiltration and tumor shrinkage, while reducing LPL weakened the immune response. Researchers were surprised that a small number of these cells significantly influenced immune activity, challenging previous assumptions about tumor-immune interactions.
